Typhoon Damrey - Central Vietnam | EXO Travel Announcement

Typhoon Damrey, Central Vietnam

Dear friends & valued partners,

Following Typhoon Damrey which hit Nha Trang on Saturday morning, which brought heavy rain and flooding in the central regions of Vietnam, we would like to update you on the following areas and how they have been affected.

Additionally, we will be in touch anyone whose clients have been affected to inform changes in plans over the coming days

Hoi An

The two main roads to access Hoi An (Hai Ba Trung & Cua Dai) are not safe, as the water is regularly flowing over them.

The water level is still very high, flooding the entire Ancient Town area as well as most of the surrounding countryside. Heavy rains are expected to persist in Central Highlands until 8th November.

Affected properties include:
- Anantara / MGallery / Little Hoi An Central Boutique / La Siesta
- All the properties located on An Hoi Islet: Rivertown / Silk Marina / Vinh Hung Emerald, etc.
- All the properties located in Cam Thanh*
-All the properties located on Cua Dai Road & Lasenta on Ly Thuong Kiet

Safe properties where we can relocate our guests (subject to availability):
- Almanity / EMM Hoi An / Hoi An Historic / Hoi An Sincerity Hotel & Spa / Hoi An Silk Village

We are strongly encouraging our guests not to venture on foot into flooded areas as the combination of floating objects & strong current could be dangerous. Additionally, the water is not clean, which might increase the risks of infection for anyone with open wounds.

Most of the boats in operation are being used to relocate both locals and guests to higher ground.

Nha Trang

Although the city is a bit messy from high winds, it appears as though the worst of the storm is now over and roads, hotels and the airport are currently open. Roughly half of Nha Trang's restaurants and bars have now opened as well.

All hotels are now opening except the Six Senses, which received significant damage to their jetty and some of their rooms. Six Senses isn't sure how long it will take to repair the damage and will remain closed until further notice.

Tours are running as normal.

EXO Travel will continue to monitor the situation and will continue to keep you updated with significant developments.

Best wishes,

EXO Travel Vietnam
