Kia Ora THE

Dunedin is buzzing this week with around 1,500 people passionate about tourism converging on the city.

At today's presentations I was excited to hear about a number of initiatives underway by the industry to support tourism growth and ensure it benefits New Zealand.

These plans align well with the ambitious pieces of work I announced today and I am extremely proud to share these with you.

Over the next few months Tourism New Zealand will evolve the 100% Pure brand and take an active role in helping regions grow by $1 billion per annum to ensure that growth is sustainable and enriches New Zealand. Read more about how we will do this below.

Sustainable tourism growth in New Zealand is dependent on a collective approach with government and industry working closely together and today it was clear we are all on the same page to make this happen.

Events like TRENZ are a great reminder of the dynamic industry we work in, one that has enormous potential to benefit all of New Zealand, there is simply no industry like it.

That's why it's fantastic we have support from the top with our Prime Minister fronting our latest globally recognised campaign #getNZonthemap (read more below) and the Minister of Tourism, Kelvin Davis speaking at TRENZ later in the week.

Tourism should enrich New Zealand and be something that all Kiwis are proud of. We have some work to do to achieve this, but I am confident we are on the right path.

Ngā mihi,

Stephen England-Hall

Chief Executive, Tourism New Zealand
