| | | | | | Tourism Australia Update | Another of Australia’s key tourism markets – Japan – is opening up to friction free travel this month, with travellers from Japan no longer needing to quarantine or take a PCR test on return from Australia. Our team in Japan are making the most of this moment with a social media campaign. Further information on this is included below. This week is the last week to apply for Tourism Australia’s international business events marketing partnership initiative, the Advance Program for 2022/23. The program provides the opportunity for Australian industry to access financial support and leverage Tourism Australia’s expertise to deliver industry-led marketing or distribution projects, which either increase consideration of Australia for new international business events; or increase international delegate attendance at events already secured for Australia. Through a series of one-on-one appointments and networking events, advisors learned about Australia’s new products and offerings that have opened over the last two years, as well as the Signature Experiences of Australia. Advisors expressed positive sentiment towards Australia, with many interested in new hotel developments and the restart of the luxury cruising industry. Feedback suggests Virtuoso clients are moving Australia from their bucket list to their ‘to do list’. Virtuoso is a premier luxury travel network with over 20,000 advisors worldwide, concentrated in North America. | | | | Japanese social media campaign celebrates the border reopening | In conjunction with popular consumer travel website TabiLabo, HIS, and Veltra, Tourism Australia has launched a social media promotion giving Japanese travellers the chance to win their dream trip to Australia. Consumers were asked to share on their own social media accounts pictures of Australia from Tourism Australia’s Instagram account and say why they want to visit the destination. Over 1,500 people entered the contest with four winners selected. The lucky winners will travel to Sydney, Gold Coast, and Moreton Island, leaving Japan this month.
