The best of the internet, right here, right now
Happy Friday! It's been a good couple weeks to be a Harry girl (P.S. stream Harry's House!!!) but it's also been a tough time to be ~extremely online~ when the news continues to get darker and darker. Prepare To Starve In Sweden A user on Reddit shared a story about going to their Swedish friend's house and, upon being told dinner was ready, was ordered to remain in the room while the family ate without them. Naturally, a screenshot made its way to Twitter and #Swedengate was born. People around the world — especially from countries/cultures where food is a community affair — came in to roast Sweden as a whole. The NYT even launched an investigation and a famous Swede chimed in to say, "yup, it's true." Note to self: bring snacks to Sweden. |

Mom Come Pick Me Up, The Generations Are Warring Again Millennials and Gen Z have long been at war about everything from charcuterie boards to the laughing emoji. Now, a Millennial TikToker is going viral for her series on how Millennials can update their 'fits to feel more ~on trend~ with the youth. A lot of fellow olds (I kid...kind of) thanked her for her service, while some complained about needing to keep up with the latest trends in a fast fashion-dominated world. Personally, as a Millennial who reluctantly ditched her skinny jeans but fully embraced the middle part, I can see both sides. But if low-rise jeans ever come back, I'm officially getting my AARP membership. |

The AI-ification Of The Book World One of the best parts about a popular book being adapted to a show or movie is getting to see the casting — did they get it very wrong or very right? But lately a trend around using AI to imagine what book characters would look like IRL is taking the internet by storm. Twilight and Game of Thrones have recently gone viral, while a thread about Harry Potter characters went around a couple months ago. Some characters look inhumanly creepy (*cough* Dolores Umbridge) while some look exactly like their actor counter-part — someone give those casting agents a raise! |
