Unusual: Southwest Airlines Evacuates Passengers Down Slide — While Still In Front of Gate

A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 headed for San Jose evacuated passengers out of the forward slide while the aircraft was just pushing back from the gate in Orange County, California last night.

The plane's auxiliary power unit caught fire and was extinguished by the aircraft's fire suppression system.

Cathay Pacific Didn’t Launch a Low Cost Airline Because of Disgraced United CEO Jeff Smisek

United CEO Jeff Smisek was ousted in September 2015 with a $37 million golden parachute after he reportedly agreed to pay off a politician in exchange for favorable action from the Port Authority of New York New Jersey which oversees their Newark airport hub.

It turns out he may have done as much as anyone to preserve the Cathay Pacific brand.

United’s New ‘Dense’ 757: Routes You Want to Avoid

US Airways-turned American President is now United's President and the airline is on a quest to 'densify' aircraft making them less comfortable for passengers.

United Boeing 757-300s currently have 213 seats (189 coach and 24 first class). In December a leaked memo showed that they're taking Boeing 757-300s up to 234 seats (210 coach and 24 first class). That's 21 more coach seats.

Man Jumps Fence at LAX, Sets off Landing Gear Fire Extinguisher on Southwest 737

Last night a man scaled a fence at LAX, ran up to a Southwest Airlines plane that was preparing to depart, and set off a landing gear fire extinguisher on the Boeing 737.

The man ran back toward the fence he had come in over. He was arrested "with the help of a police dog" who apparently also bit him.

Tomorrow the Price to Purchase Wyndham Points Goes Up

Today you can buy Wyndham Rewards points at a cost of $11 per 1000 (so 1.1 cents per point). They limit you to purchasing just 5000 points per year.

Starting tomorrow they're increasing the amount of points you can buy to 10,000 but also raising the price to $13 per 1000 (1.3 cents per point).

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt flies Delta even when the government has a contract fare with another airline and flies first class due to 'exceptional security circumstances'. His government travel forms claim coach would be unsafe for him. And as a result he has no problem meeting minimum spend requirements for Delta SkyMiles elite status.
