| | | | | | Tourism Australia Update | As the school holidays come to a close it has been great to hear reports of high occupancy, especially in those areas hard hit by the pandemic including Cairns and the Gold Coast. We’ve now been open internationally for just over four months and travellers are returning. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has released May arrivals data and we’re back to 35 per cent of pre COVID levels already. A lot of that is of course Visiting Friends and Relatives (VFR) but we’re seeing forward bookings up to around 60 per cent to end of the year, and that includes a lot more leisure, which is exactly what we want, so the trend is there, we now have the job of continuing to drive that international tourism demand back to our shores. This week Tourism Australia opened seller applications for Australia Marketplace UK & Europe 2022, which will be held in London from 14 to 15 November.
