TOURISM AUSTRALIA UPDATE

Last week there were celebrations marking ‘One Year To Go’ until the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. The occasion was marked with the unveiling of a Unity Pitch on Barangaroo Reserve, and coordinated evening light shows across the tournament’s nine Host Cities in Australia and New Zealand. As a Legacy 23 Ambassador for Football Australia, I can’t wait to be part of the excitement when it all kicks off next year. Major events like this continue to put Australia on the map for fans around the world and help us to continue to build back international visitation numbers.

Last Friday our Minister for Trade and Tourism, and Special Minister of State, Senator the Hon Don Farrell, joined the Tourism Australia Industry Webinar along with Nadia O’Connell from Firescreek Botanical Winery. If you missed the webinar you can watch a recording here. The next industry webinar will take place at 11am AEST, Friday 2 September and you can register to attend here.

New Indigenous Australia course on the Aussie Specialist Program
Aboriginal-guided experiences offer visitors an authentic connection with Australia, hearing the stories of its people and their unique connection to the land. Tourism Australia recently launched an Indigenous Australia course on the Aussie Specialist Program. The course provides global Aussie Specialist agents with a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples and culture and inspires them to learn more about including an Aboriginal guided experience in their itineraries. The new course has so far had over 350 completions and complements the Discover Aboriginal Experiences course on the Aussie Specialist Program, that details bookable experiences and resources.
National Experience Content Initiative update
Tourism Australia’s National Experience Content Initiative continues to roll out, with assets for more than 300 operators featured so far. New images and video content are regularly added to Tourism Australia’s image and video galleries and can be accessed free of charge. The initiative aims to support tourism businesses across Australia in their recovery and drive increased visitation by helping them to better market their experiences and attractions. See some of the recent examples from Victoria, Tasmania, and Australian Capital Territory here, including Flagstaff Hill, Hot Air Balloon Tasmania, Hinton Bay Kitchen, and the Australian War Memorial. Follow #neciaus on Instagram for a behind the scenes look at the NECI shoots as they take place throughout the country.
