Business Events Australia Update

After what has been an extremely challenging year for so many within the business events industry, the announcements over the last two months signal a positive shift towards recovery.

The recent announcement by the Australian Government in regards to welcoming back fully vaccinated Singaporean travellers with quarantine free travel from the 21 November has been warmly received and is another crucial step towards reopening to the world.

As markets begin to reopen to international travel, we will increase our focus on conversion driving activity to capitalise on short to mid-term business; as well as position Australia for long term growth, making sure our prospective customers know we’re open and ready to welcome delegates back to enjoy our exceptional destinations, world-class venues and unique experiences.

As the world reopens, we remain active in all our key markets and continue to inspire and engage with customers through our marketing and distribution activity, with several key highlights over the last month - including IMEX America, Australia Innovates and the launch of our redeveloped Business Events Australia website.

Business Events Consumer Demand Project 2021
IMEX America
Last week, Tourism Australia’s specialist unit, Business Events Australia, and six industry partners showcased Australia’s business events offering to international buyers at the global trade show IMEX America in Las Vegas. During the three-day event, Business Events Australia hosted more than 180 buyers for group presentations and an additional 40 buyers for one-on-one meetings. As the first global trade show since the start of the pandemic, where we’ve been able to have an in-person presence, the event was a significant milestone towards recovery. Attending the event reaffirmed that demand for Australia is strong, with business leads generated for 2022 and beyond; demonstrating tangible results and strong returns for industry.

Australia Innovates
Tourism Australia recently launched the seventh episode of Australia Innovates, a documentary-style video series showcasing Australians pursuing world first research, discovery, invention, innovation and intervention across several knowledge sectors. The series positions the nation as a world-leading association meetings destination where delegates can experience innovation firsthand. In the latest episode, we meet process engineer Sachini De Silva, who has co-created a sustainable, off-grid solution to provide access to clean water in remote locations, with the potential to be scaled internationally to assist in agribusiness and disaster response. The episode is available to watch on the Business Events Australia website and will be promoted as part of the broader series to association customers in North America, United Kingdom and Europe through targeted marketing activity across business events publications and social media.
