No Images? Click here e-Flash from Tourism New Zealand | 1 April 2019 Tēnā koe, Recently we let you know we'd made the call to pause our activity for a short time following the Christchurch attacks. We received an overwhelming amount of support for this decision and I would like to thank the sector for their support. Following consultation with our teams in market, key agencies and a review of available trend data we have made the decision to resume our activity on Monday 8 April. Each market will resume activity in a way that is appropriate to their audience and circumstances. It could be that some markets focus on paid campaign activity while some focus on trade activity, joint ventures or a mix. Each market is now in the process of developing their 8 April reactivation plans. As these plans develop we will share more information with you. In regards to the immediate trade famil activity we paused, we are pleased to let you know that a number of these have now been rescheduled for May/June using the same or similar itineraries and we are working with airlines to reschedule the Australia and South East Asia mega-famils for spring. A big thank you to all the RTO’s who were so accommodating with the famil pause and reschedule. New Zealanders' response to the attacks demonstrated what is unique and special about New Zealand – our people and our values. It is something the rest of the world has credited us for and we are yet to see any significant impact on the sector as a result of the attack. This is of course something that will continue to be monitored and something that we as a sector have an important role to play in over the coming months. We look forward, more than ever, to proudly showcasing New Zealand, our people and our warm welcome on the global stage with your continued support. If you have any questions about this decision or want to know more please contact me or one of the team. Ngā mihi, Stephen England-Hall |
