Though a barrage of dissatisfaction has greeted Las Vegas resorts' adoption of parking fees, that outpouring of frustration hasn't made an identifiable impact. Until now, that is.
The tentative deals with the two big operators came after thousands of bartenders, housekeepers, cocktail and food servers, porters, bellmen, cooks and other kitchen workers saw their contracts expire.
On the Strip, the 16th floor doesn't offer much of a view. You have to ride the elevator much higher to take in the skyline of obsidian pyramids, mini Eiffel Towers and Italianate palaces. But 13 miles south on Las Vegas Boulevard, the M Resort Spa Casino stands alone, a solitary sentinel welcoming visitors fresh off the Interstate 15 to the valley.
The Underground, a new exhibit at the Mob Museum in Las Vegas, brings the Prohibition era to life with displays of artifacts, a working brewery, a copper-pot distillery, a speakeasy-style bar and a private VIP room hidden behind a secret door.
