So, we've dived deep into the nitty-gritty of pivoting –but when you strip it all back, what's this whole pivot thing really about?
I was thinking about this quote from Tony Robbins: "Change is never a matter of ability, it's a matter of motivation or reasons."
You can learn a new editing style. You can figure out a new platform's algorithm (eventually…). The real driver, the thing that actually makes you take that scary, exciting step, is your why.
Are you bored with what you're doing? Do you have this burning new idea you just can't shake? Do you feel a pull to connect with people in a different way? That's your motivation.
Making a pivot in your social media career is, without a doubt, a leap of faith. There's no instruction manual with a guaranteed happy ending. Your brilliant plan might hit a wall, or it could be the thing that launches you into a whole new stratosphere of success you never even imagined. It might just be the move that makes your content, your unique voice, go viral.
But here's the kicker: you'll absolutely never know what's on the other side of that change unless you actually take the jump.
And as someone who's pivoted multiple times, I can only say, don't be afraid of failing because it's better to try and fail (and know if it works or doesn't) than to never try at all.
Also, every single time I've made a big pivot, even with the wobbles, it has been 100% worth it. Why? Because I was happier creating the content. And that genuine happiness and passion? That's the secret sauce that keeps your creativity flowing and, ultimately, connects with people.
So, as I'm figuring out my own next steps, I'll ask you: what's your next leap looking like?
