TOURISM AUSTRALIA UPDATE

As we all know, the best people to sell and promote Australia internationally are those who have actually visited and enjoyed all that we have to offer. Our famils therefore play a critical role in reminding the world that we are open, and of what has changed since people last visited.

To that end, from Thursday this week, international business events planners and trade media will begin arriving in various locations around Australia to commence pre famil visits as part of the Business Events Australia Asia Mega Famil Showcase. A delegation of 50 will then travel to Sydney/Warrane on Sunday for the host city component of the program, delivered in partnership with Business Events Sydney. Delegates attending are from key markets in the Asia region, including Greater China, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan and South Korea, and those who didn’t attend the pre-famil, will have the opportunity to visit another destination in Australia as a post famil.

This Friday, 31 March at 11am ADT we are holding our next Industry Webinar and I encourage you to attend. If you can’t make the live feed a recording is distributed following the stream. Find out more and register below.

Dual naming resource for industry
Tourism Australia has released a guide for industry to assist when using dual naming. Dual naming is when a confirmed Aboriginal name for a location or geographical feature sits alongside the official English name for the place. It illustrates the custodianship that Aboriginal peoples have had over the Australian continent for tens of thousands of years and highlights areas of cultural significance. In adopting a dual name approach, organisations can play a role in continuing to deepen the knowledge and understanding that all Australians have of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.
