Our ski campaign went live last week and is supported by regional campaigns to get Kiwis out and about this winter. We are also busy working away on something special to drive domestic tourism in spring and we look forward to sharing more on this with you soon. Today we released the findings of a piece of research we commissioned to learn more about New Zealanders’ behaviours and attitudes towards domestic travel. The research shows that 64 per cent of New Zealanders intend to take a domestic holiday within the next year. It also identified other key insights that will help operators ensure their business is best placed to tap into the New Zealand market. You can find out more about this research below. While we are very much focused on supporting the domestic tourism sector recover it's equally important that we continue to build preference for New Zealand offshore. This will support sectors like international tourism as well as New Zealand’s exports and will build a strong foundation for economic recovery when borders reopen. Our latest piece of activity in this space is one I am incredibly proud of and is the result of a number of agencies working together. I’m excited to share with you a new global campaign, ‘Messages from New Zealand'. Messages is the result of cross-agency work, led by Tourism New Zealand in collaboration with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Ministry for Primary Industries, Education New Zealand and New Zealand Story to promote New Zealand’s brand on the world stage. It showcases New Zealand’s unique identity and perspective about what’s important to us. The campaign asks questions like, ‘If you could encourage the world to do one thing, what would it be?’ garnering responses from everyday Kiwis and notable Kiwi success stories from sectors like New Zealand’s world-class food, export products and our tech sector. It will roll out in key markets over the coming weeks. Read more about the campaign and join a webinar to find out more below. Ngā mihi, Stephen England-Hall Chief Executive, Tourism New Zealand Messages from New Zealand For the first time, Tourism New Zealand, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Ministry for Primary Industries, Education New Zealand and New Zealand Story are launching a global campaign to promote New Zealand’s brand on the world stage. This cross-agency campaign will build New Zealand’s brand offshore and increase its appeal as a great place to live, invest in, buy products from and visit again when the time is right. Kiwis' views on domestic travel We recently commissioned a piece of research to find out what Kiwis' views are on domestic travel to help inform our work and the support we provide to industry. It shows more than half of New Zealanders intend to take a domestic holiday in the next 12 months, with 43 per cent saying they also intend to spend more.
