Kia Ora THE

With half of the peak season still to go and parts of the country enjoying record temperatures, New Zealanders and visitors alike are experiencing a stunning summer. It's great to hear from operators that businesses across the country are booming.

Tourism delivers huge benefits to our country and the number one priority for all of us is making sure our international visitors continue to have a unique experience they will talk about for years to come.

A fundamental truth of a uniquely 100% New Zealand holiday is our ability to host visitors like no one else can! We can only achieve that with the support of New Zealanders.

A key focus for us this year will be working with industry and across government to find ways we can secure sustainable, ongoing tourism growth that makes New Zealand a better place for Kiwis and visitors. Although an increasing number of New Zealanders think that international visitors put too much pressure on New Zealand, the vast majority of people are proud that New Zealand is an attractive destination and are open to welcoming international visitors.

As we focus on shoulder season arrivals, we are already looking towards autumn with a new campaign kicking off next week to get more Australians to combine a visit to Wellington and  Marlborough for a short break. Read more below.

I look forward to getting out on the road again this year to get to know more of you.

Stephen England-Hall
