TOURISM AUSTRALIA UPDATE

Following the Voice referendum result over the weekend, at Tourism Australia we will continue to work towards better outcomes for First Nations peoples as part of our remit in promoting Australia’s tourism experiences to the world. In doing so, we are strongly committed to our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), to advancing Indigenous tourism through our Discover Aboriginal Experiences collective, and we will continue to embed Indigenous cultures across our content, campaigns and events.

Seller applications to attend the Australian Tourism Exchange 2024 in Melbourne/Narrm open today. The event which is the Australian tourism industry’s largest annual business-to-business event, will be delivered in partnership with Visit Victoria and will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre between Sunday 19 May and Thursday 23 May 2024. On Friday the Australian Bureau of Statistics released the latest international arrivals numbers. They show arrivals in the month of August were at about 77%, compared to the same month in 2019. There are still challenges ahead, but with aviation capacity expected to return to 99% of 2019 levels in February next year we remain optimistic that recovery will continue to track in the right direction.
