TOURISM AUSTRALIA UPDATE

This week AIME kicked off in Melbourne/Narrm celebrating the event’s 30th Anniversary. This milestone is testament not only to the importance of AIME to the global business events industry, but also the incredible events capability of the host city and Australia.

You may have seen over the weekend the Minister for Trade and Tourism, Senator the Hon Don Farrell, announced Adelaide/Tarntanya will be the host city for Dreamtime 2023. Dreamtime is a valuable part of our distribution activity to bring qualified planners and media to Australia to experience the wealth of new product available and our world class event delivery. Dreamtime was last held in 2019 and the 2023 event will be more important than ever before as Australia continues to rebuild a pipeline of international business events. You can read more about Dreamtime below.

Finally, on Friday we welcome the start of Sydney WorldPride 2023. Working behind the scenes as part of the Sydney World Pride Board has been a great reminder to me of the economic impact, and global attention, events like these have on destinations. A boost like this with our international audiences, along with upcoming events such as the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, augurs well as we look to the full recovery of our visitor economy by 2024.
