I'm headed off on a much-needed vacation (from the internet and real life) next week, but don't worry: I still rounded up the best of the world wide web before I go. The "Sweaty Elvis" Meme Is All Of Us This Summer

After a photo of Austin Butler, unrecognizable in character as Elvis, went viral, people began comparing their sweaty summer selves to the image. From temperature struggles to the perils of outdoor dining to couples fighting over the AC, each joke is funnier than the last. This ~hot one~ feels particularly on brand. Alongside Elvis (see above), another new movie entered the meme world this week: Minions: Rise of Gru. For some reason (I would guess the brain worms from being so online) the internet churned out a plethora of content around this kid's movie. There were "Gruboutins," breakup notes, singalongs, and a meme that will never die. Attending the movie decked out in suits even became a trend on TikTok. Minions used to just be in memes your Grandma shared on Facebook — look how far they've come!

Doja Cat Shot Her Shot...And It Backfired

"Stranger Things'" Joseph Quinn (aka Eddie Munson) is the internet's flavor of the month — even Doja Cat agrees! The singer recently slid into fellow ST actor Noah Schnapp's DMs to see if he would set her up with Joseph. Noah exposed the entire convo in a now-deleted TikTok and Twitter lost its mind. But then, Doja went live to slam Noah for posting their private convo and the internet quickly changed course (it's a fickle beast, ain't it?). Some made jokes while others called her out for the entire situation. The feud ended up trending, meanwhile we got silence from good old Joe who hasn't claimed a side in this chaotic beef.

Back to memes, a clip from Usher's "tiny desk" performance has gone viral for its ability to work with pretty much any joke. From FBI skills to "I'm not paying that" to setting your OOO message, these memes are all about expecting the unexpected. And, like all good things on the internet, its time quickly ran out when someone decidedly uncool used it. Goodnight, sweet meme.
