TOURISM AUSTRALIA UPDATE

With borders reopened, the pent-up demand for travel continues to flow as we head into a bumper Easter holiday period. It is great to see so many Australians’ getting out and travelling, in addition to all the international visitors hitting our shores things really are starting to get back to some sense of normality.

Our distribution partners are seeing a surge in bookings, and whilst those arriving in the coming months are largely visiting friends and relatives, we’re seeing some great leisure business bookings for the second half of the year in particular.

On Monday 18 April 2022 applications will open for the Advance Program 2022/23, Tourism Australia’s international business events marketing partnership initiative. Find out more below.

Finally, we will be holding our next Industry Webinar on Friday 22 April March 2022. The webinar will include an update from me – including everything you need to know about the Australian Tourism Exchange 2022, we will be joined by Eva Seller our Regional General Manager, Continental Europe to give an update on where things are at in relation to travel in that part of the world, and Tara Howell, Founder, Blue Derby Pods Ride, will join us to give an operator perspective and update. Register to attend here.

Yours to Explore campaign launches in Japan

Tourism Australia has kicked off a reopening campaign to encourage Japanese to come and explore Australia. The Yours to Explore campaign is designed to extend a warm welcome from Australia, drive demand for the destination, and remind Japanese of all the incredible experiences that await them on their next holiday. The integrated campaign covers national newspapers, out-of-home advertising at some of the busiest city locations and major railway stations in Tokyo and Osaka, as well as digital and social media. In conjunction with the campaign launch, Tourism Australia is partnering with state and territory tourism organisations and airlines to run face-to-face seminars to celebrate the reopening and provide the latest product information. Covering five gateway cities, the roadshow commenced in Tokyo on 11 April, and will be followed by Sapporo, Fukuoka, Nagoya and Osaka, targeting 360 representatives of key distribution partners and media in Japan.
