TOURISM AUSTRALIA UPDATE

As we come off a week of optimism with the opening of international borders, it seems we have some new curveballs to deal with one close to home and the other on the other side of the world but affecting us all. Firstly, the unfolding flood situation in Southeast Queensland and in Northern New South Wales, with the loss of lives, displacement of thousands of people, and costly impacts for residents and businesses. Secondly is the situation unfolding in the Ukraine, and we would also like to acknowledge those and their loved ones who are impacted by this.

This week though there have been some positive developments in terms of borders opening and restrictions easing. From this Thursday 3 March the Western Australia border opens allowing for free travel across the country, and New Zealand will ease restrictions on travellers allowing for a freer flow between our two countries. Both are great developments for Australian tourism.

This Thursday 3 March seems to be a big day, as Tourism Australia will be holding the 2022 Destination Australia Conference at CENTREPIECE Melbourne. In person registrations have closed however if you would like to attend online you can still register here.

Last Friday Tourism Australia held the first Industry Webinar for 2022. If you missed the live webinar you can watch a replay online here. The next webinar will be held on Friday 25 March 2022. Register to attend, here.
