We’ve been discussing this with the industry at our Roadshow events that kicked off this week in Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown. The events have given us the opportunity to have really interesting conversations about the future of tourism in Aotearoa; and we are pleased to have the Tourism Futures Taskforce, the Regional Tourism Organisations and the Department of Conservation alongside us. It's not too late to join us in person in Wellington, Rotorua next week, or virtually – I encourage you to come along if you aren’t already. We’ve also been incredibly pleased to have Hemi Sundgren, our new Pou Ārahi – Māori join us at the events and bring to life our focus on embedding Te Ao Māori into everything we do. This week we have asked industry to take part in our latest industry survey. As we work hard to support sector recovery, including working closely with government, it is important to understand how you are doing to help inform this work. I encourage you to take fifteen minutes to contribute your insights to this and have your say. It is much appreciated and incredibly valuable. Supporting industry recovery is a top priority for us. Having information about the environment you are operating in to help you plan and orientate your business is incredibly important. We recently released our latest scenario modelling to help you do this, and we’ll continue to gather insights and share these with you to support the sector as it recovers. As we head into a long weekend and as we continue to work together to encourage Kiwis to get out and do something new, I hope you see this reflected in people through your doors. Ngā mihi, Stephen England-Hall Embracing Te Ao Māori We've welcomed Hemi Sundgren to the newly-formed role of Pou Ārahi – Māori. “I’m thrilled that Hemi is joining the Tourism New Zealand whānau. His cultural expertise and knowledge will help us better partner with Maori as well as bring Te Ao Māori to life in our strategy and everything we do,” says Stephen England-Hall. Tourism NZ Industry Survey Tourism is vital to New Zealand's recovery. We are working hard to support sector recovery, including working closely with Government. This survey is designed to take a temperature check on how operators are doing, and how things might have changed since we last checked in. 71% of Kiwis keen to travel New data reveals that 71% of us are looking to take a holiday in New Zealand within the next 12 months. Given it’s been a stressful year, it’s no surprise that the top driver for Kiwis considering a holiday is now rest and relaxation.
