The webinars have been presented by Tourism Australia’s regional offices along with Sydney-based staff and provide participants with a state of play in the current market. Travel publication, TTG China, has recognised the efforts of Tourism Australia's in-market business events team with the award for ‘Best Overseas NTO in China Promoting BT-MICE’ for 2020. This is the eighth consecutive year Tourism Australia has won the category at the annual TTG China Travel Awards. | | | | | | | | | | | Tasmania launches Make Yourself At Home campaign | Make Yourself At Home is a campaign developed by Tourism Tasmania to encourage Tasmanians to holiday at home safely and support the local tourism industry while traditional interstate and international markets are not currently available. The campaign has been developed in partnership with the four regional tourism organisations, the Department of State Growth, the Tasmanian Hospitality Association and the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania. Tasmanians are encouraged to visit the Buy Something Tasmanian website where they can see bespoke tourism content, as well as any special offers. Visit the campaign website here and download the industry toolkit here. | | | | Northern Territory tourism voucher scheme | The Northern Territory Government has developed a tourism voucher scheme to encourage Territorians to explore the Territory and support local tourism businesses until borders can safely re-open to interstate visitors. More than 26,000 vouchers worth $200 will be available from 1 July, Territory Day, for Territorians to put towards a tourism experience, tour, accommodation, hire car or recreational fishing charter, so long as they match the spend with their own money. The $5.2 million voucher initiative is supported by a marketing campaign ‘Never have I ever…’ encouraging Territorians to book a local tourism experience they have never got around to enjoying for themselves. The voucher scheme has been developed in partnership with Northern Territory regional tourism organisations, Tourism Top End and Tourism Central Australia. Brilliant Travels provides consumers with travel inspiration and a central place to book experiences right across Australia that are offered through the SeaLink Travel Group family of travel companies. Focusing on domestic holidays, Brilliant Travels, offers consumers easy access to travel packages and experiences on some of Australia’s most unique island destinations. | | | | Export Market Development Grants forms now available | The Export Market Development Grants application forms for the 2020 grant year are now available. Please note that whilst the application form is open, submissions will not be accepted until 1 July 2020. The Export Market Development Grants scheme is a key Australian Government financial assistance program for aspiring and current exporters and is administered by Austrade. For more information about the grants visit www.austrade.gov.au/exportgrants. | | | | | | | | | | New Saltwater Eco Tour opens on the Sunshine Coast, QLD | A new experience that forges a deeper connection to Australia’s ancient culture and the sea has opened on the Sunshine Coast. The new Saltwater Eco Tours will allow travellers to experience traditional sailing along the Mooloolah River, the traditional waters of the local Kabi Kabi or “Saltwater People”. Operating on a 100-year-old sailing vessel, travellers will learn traditional sailing techniques, spot wildlife, enjoy local bush tucker and hear the stories and traditions of the Sunshine Coasts first eco-custodians. Founded by Young Indigenous Tourism Leader, Simon Thornalley, his extensive experience and passion for the ocean will help to educate visitors on culturally significant sites and the connection between Indigenous culture and the ocean. Tours will operator from Mooloolaba with charters running from 4 July. Bookings are now open online. | | | | The Kalbarri Skywalk is now open and ready to welcome visitors, WA | The Kalbarri Skywalk in Kalbarri National Park, Western Australia, is now open. Featuring two cantilevered viewing platforms, the Skywalk will provide visitors with stunning views of the Park’s gorges, rust-red cliffs, flowing waterways and bushland. With soaring views of the Murchison Gorge, the platforms project 25 metres and 17 metres beyond the gorge rim, and more than 100 metres above the river below. The site also provides toilets, shade shelters, parking, interpretive artwork, improved road infrastructure and a soon to open kiosk. Located a six-hour drive from Perth, the Park is well known for its coastal cliffs which provide an excellent vantage point to view humpback whales and access to some of the State’s most spectacular wildflowers. The inland gorge sites of the National Park are open from 6am to 6pm daily and there is no additional cost to access the Kalbarri Skywalk. | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
