How Can Chase Sapphire Reserve Have Become So Passé in Just Two Years?

At the beginning of the year Chase revealed statistics about Sapphire Reserve cardholders. The average income is $180,000 and average credit score 785.

When the card launched two years ago it was definitely a hit among consumers. Since then though anecdotally it seems their approval standards tightened up. Readers with good credit and good income who aren't locked out by 5/24 were getting declined. Meanwhile other cards and combination of cards have caught up and even surpassed.

Bose QC25 Noise Cancelling Headphones 63% Off (These Are the Ones I Use)

My view is that you should only buy things in your purchase plan on major shopping days. Get a discount for what you'd buy anyway, don't make impulse purchases of things you don't need.

5 of the Best No Annual Fee Credit Cards Right Now

If you don't spend a lot on your credit cards it may not make sense to pay an annual fee. And since I evaluate a product's value at the margin, when considering a card that has an annual fee it makes sense to evaluate how much better that product is than the best you can do without one.

What Do You Do When Inflight Internet Doesn’t Work?

I've been on flights where an announcement was made at the start of flight that the internet didn't work -- only to find that it worked just fine. That worked out great, not only was there internet but no one else was trying to use it so I had plenty of bandwidth.

I've also been on plenty of flights where internet doesn't work and the crew was aware of this from the prior flight but didn't say anything until we were up in the air. That's frustrating because I'd have treated the half hour I was on the plane (on the ground, still with connectivity) differently.
