Bali's Mount Agung | EXO Travel Update

Alert level raised to Category IV

EXO TRAVEL UPDATE ON BALI'S AGUNG VOLCANO

Dear valued partners,

We'd like to make you aware that Mount Agung on the island of Bali has had its alert-level raised to a level IV by the Center for Volcanology of Geological Hazard Mitigation. This indicates that there is a greater possibility of eruption now. Consequently, preventive measures to safeguard people and communities in the immediate vicinity of the volcano are being made.

An exclusion zone is being enforced for both local residents and tourists from within 9km of the crater and 12km of the north, northeast, southeast and south/southwest sides of the mountain. Although the majority of tourist destinations in Bali remain a safe distance away from this zone, guests travelling in the areas of Sidemen, Amed and Tulambem have been already relocated last night. Today our teams are relocating those staying in Candidasa and Manggis towards either Ubud or the South Bali area depending of their program. We are also suspending all excursions in East Bali as well as the Kintamani and Mt Batur areas.

Everyone who has affected clients will be receiving information from us directly by email file by file, informing you of the contact information, what happens, where clients will be staying at, as well as their revised program.

All clients who are travelling in other areas of Bali (Ubud, West Bali, North Bali and South Bali) are outside the exclusion zone and have no need for relocation at the moment. As our team is giving priority to relocations, once these are completed we will look at reassessing plans for these travelers as well as those who are soon coming to Bali. Please do bear with us until such time.

As some clients may want to depart Bali as a precaution, we will facilitate any re-booking as well as transfers to the airport. Bali Denpasar Airport is open, but could close if there are ash emissions from the volcano.

Our Operations team has worked through the night and our whole Bali team is in the office for the weekend to man phones, rearrange travel plans and answer queries from clients and agents. Please use your usual email contact for now to request updates for specific files. Also, please do not use our 24-hour Customer Care phone number, as we would like it to stay open for clients on the ground. Our normal office numbers are open as below:
