Desire for New Zealand remains strong with our research showing that preference for New Zealand as a destination is at a time high of 44.6%. But, while visitors are returning, and some markets are recovering more quickly than others – it’s expected that the recovery will plateau. We still have a big job to do. Tourism New Zealand is committed to continue to supporting sector and New Zealand recovery by encouraging high quality visitors who contribute to our culture, environment, society and economy. Tourism will make an important contribution to the country’s recovery, and we are pushing hard to encourage visitation. As the summer season draws to close, we’ve turned our attention to driving visitation over winter by launching new activity to encourage Aussies to cross the ditch to enjoy some “ahh and ahhhh”. You can read more on this below. New research about those actively considering visiting Aotearoa New Zealand, shows our beautiful landscapes and scenery remain a key driver for choosing to visit. Our reputation as a place to have fun and enjoy yourself is also a strong driver for those actively considering visiting. The research helps identify which attributes, such as our spectacular landscapes and unique culture, those actively considering visiting find most appealing and what drives these people to have New Zealand as their most preferred destination. This allows us to tailor our messages and activity that inspires them to choose New Zealand. I encourage you to take a look and see how it might help attract visitors and grow your business. With preference for New Zealand remaining high, we have a highly motivated group of people to reach with our campaign activity. We will continue to focus our efforts to convert these people to high quality visitor arrivals. Some cyclone impacted regions, such as Hawke's Bay are putting out the message that they are open and ready to welcome visitors, especially over the Easter school holiday period. Tourism New Zealand is helping to amplify this message through our channels and continues to be in touch with the impacted regions. Below are some dates for our upcoming industry hui, I look forward to catching up with you all, having some good kōrero and sharing more about our Financial Year 2024 plans, activity and recovery. As always - if you have any questions, feedback, or want to get in touch with myself or one of the Tourism New Zealand team, please contact us. Ngā mihi,
