TOURISM AUSTRALIA UPDATE

We are continuing to see higher rates of new COVID-19 infections each day, and the resulting lockdowns are biting, even in areas not in lockdown. However, we are also seeing increasingly higher rates of vaccination across the country with almost 60 per cent of the Australian population aged 16 years and over having now had their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. That of course means we are getting closer to the 70 per cent and 80 per cent vaccination rate thresholds and the promise of less, or even the elimination of, lockdowns as a mechanism to manage outbreaks.

In other encouraging news, towards the end of last week, Qantas announced plans to resume international travel, while the New South Wales Government announced that fully vaccinated people will be allowed more freedoms from 13 September, along with a plan for students to return to school in Term 4.

Our next industry webinar will be held on Friday, 10 September 2021 at 11am AEST. Further details can be found below.
