The Advance Program provides industry with the opportunity to access financial support and specialist expertise to deliver marketing or distribution projects which seek to increase consideration of Australia for new international business events, or increase international delegate attendance at events already secured for Australia. Applications close 29 January 2021. Full details including how to apply online can be found in the Advance Program Prospectus. | | | | Australia on Show at Global Travel Marketplace | Tourism Australia participated in the eighth annual Global Travel Marketplace (GTM) event from 29 to 30 October. The virtual appointment-based event brought top-producing North American travel advisors and global travel suppliers together to rebuild their businesses and plan for the resurgence of the travel industry. The team met with 90 travel advisors via one-on-one appointments and boardroom sessions. Training sessions covered Australia’s key selling points including the Signature Experiences of Australia, resources such as the new 8D videos, and the Covid Safe Travel Portal on www.australia.com. There was strong interest in the Aussie Specialist Program with advisors qualifying as Aussie Specialists following the update. | | | | | | | | | Business Events webinar in Japan | Tourism Australia in conjunction with major convention and visitors bureaux held a Business Events Australia webinar for Japanese travel agents on 6 November. Business Events Cairns and Great Barrer Reef, Business Events Perth, Business Events Sydney, Destination Gold Coast and Melbourne Convention Bureau joined the webinar to present the current situation the latest information on Australia to the audience consisting of agents and organisers. | | | | Tourism EXPO Japan | Tourism Australia recently participated in the annual travel show Tourism EXPO Japan coordinated by the Japan Association of Travel Agents and Japan National Tourism Organisation. Tourism Australia provided the latest information on Australia via one on one meetings with travel agents and promoted Australia's natural attractions and wide-open spaces to Japanese consumers. Over 24,000 visitors enjoyed the show which will be followed by an even larger event in Tokyo in January 2021. | | | | | | | | | | | Emmarli - yoga, massage and meditation on Country | Discover Aboriginal Experiences member, Jarramali Rock Art Tours, has teamed up with yoga teacher and massage therapist, Emma Roberts, to create an opportunity to reunite people with country, culture, and nature via massage, yoga, and meditation. Participants can experience sunrise yoga at Jarramali’s camp at Laura, Far North Queensland on a 2-night 3-day tour or a massage out in the open with breathtaking views of the sandstone escarpments. Incorporating seasonal and locally grown organic fruits and vegetables as part of the experience, Emmarli is a combination of the words Emma and Jarramali. The tours operate on demand from Friday to Sunday in the dry season (May to October), bookable by email. | | | | Yolŋu Homeland tour dates published for 2021 | Lirrwi Tourism has published their Yolŋu Homeland tour dates for 2021. Travelling to East Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory, tour participants can experience the philosophies, kinship systems, hunting practices, instrument making and basket weaving secrets of the Yolŋu Traditional Owners. Several tours are available including a Photography Tour and Arts Centre Tour. Female visitors can participate in The Gay’wu – The Dilly Bag Tour for Women which provides participants with the opportunity to come together with their Yolŋu sisterhood and learn about their culture, history and country. Eight departure dates are scheduled for 2021. Lirrwi Tourism is a member of Discover Aboriginal Experiences. | | | | | | | | | Spirits of the Red Sand new programs | Spirits of the Red Sand has developed new cultural awareness training and educational programs along with their unique events and function space catering for groups large and small on the grounds of Beenleigh Historical Village. Targeted at corporations and schools, the cultural awareness and educational programs give an insight into Aboriginal culture, traditions, and protocols. Participants are awarded a certificate acknowledging their involvement on completion of the course. This Discover Aboriginal Experiences member also offers a 2.5 hour live interactive theatre and dinner experience that combines powerful storytelling, songs, dance and chants, providing a sense of being part of the action for the audience. | | | | Virtual Cultural Experience with Top Didj | Top End Aboriginal artist and storyteller, Manuel Pamkal, gives a rare and personal insight into Aboriginal culture on a new virtual cultural experience offered by Katherine-based Top Didj Cultural Experience & Art Gallery. In this 45-minute experience, Manuel shares stories about his life growing up in the bush, demonstrates how to light a fire using two sticks and how to throw a spear with a woomera.
