Findings show an uptick in confidence since the first wave was completed in August, despite restrictions on attendees and travel hampering confidence. For a summary of the findings see this fact sheet. For more detailed information on the research results, please contact the Business Events Australia team. | | | | First hybrid Business Events Australia Greater China Showcase takes place | The first hybrid Greater China Showcase kicked off on Tuesday and wrapped up on Friday last week. The event saw around 80 buyers meet in person in China and connect virtually with 60 sellers in Australia, with over 2,000 appointments taking place. The event incorporated Australian food and wine and other touches of Australia. The event generated 20 leads for Australia and valuable insights from customers, including, unsurprisingly, trends such as smaller event sizes and, positively, new industries doing well in China which Australia may benefit from down the track. | | | | | | | | | Advance Program applications open | Second round applications are now open for the Advance Program 2020/21. Overseen by Business Events Australia, the program provides industry with the opportunity to access financial support and specialist expertise to deliver marketing or distribution projects. Projects must seek to increase consideration of Australia for new international business events or increase international delegate attendance at events already secured for Australia. To maximise industry’s opportunity to apply for funding, the application period has been extended with submissions now closing on 29 January 2021. Full details of the program can be found in the Advance Program Prospectus. | | | | Save the date for the South and South East Asia Showcase | Business Events Australia’s new South and South East Asia Showcase will take place from 23 to 25 February 2021 offering Australian industry a virtual opportunity to meet with incentive agents from India, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. In other distribution updates, the Business Events team in the USA recently attended the virtual Global Incentive Summit with four Australian convention bureaux. The event generated six incentive leads for Australia and yielded insights from customers in North America, including positive sentiment for Australia’s handling of the pandemic and optimism for the recovery of the incentive sector. The Business Events Australia team also recently hosted a business events webinar in Japan, attended by 120 agents, with 98 per cent of buyers satisfied and more likely to send groups to Australia following the webinar. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
