| | INDUSTRY UPDATES IN WESTERN MARKETS | Tourism Australia is hosting industry briefings over the next two weeks. The briefings in the United Kingdom and Germany will be held on 21 January and the briefing in the United States will be held on 27 January. The briefings will provide updates to industry on Tourism Australia’s response to the bushfires and provide the latest information on which areas are unaffected. State and Territory Tourism partners will be joining the briefings. | | | | G'DAY USA 2020 | This year’s G’DAY USA 2020 gala dinner – Standing Together will be held on 25 January in Los Angeles. The event will be dedicated to supporting relief efforts in response to the bushfires, express thanks for the generous support provided from across the United States to date, and raise awareness of how people can continue to assist Australia. The American Australian Association (AAA) will host the AAA Arts Awards on 30 January with all proceeds going to the Australian Bushfire Relief Fund. | | | | | |

| | PRODUCT UPDATE WORKSHOP IN MALAYSIA | Tourism Australia and the State and Territory Organisations conducted a product update workshop in Kuala Lumpur on 17 January. Two hundred product planners from key travel agencies attended and were given updates on the bushfires in addition to latest products in each state and territory. | | | | TOURISM AUSTRALIA EVENT IN JAPAN | Tourism Australia will exhibit at a Japanese trade event from 8 to 9 February, the ‘Tabi Haku Traveller’s Fes in Fukuoka 2020’. Around 10,000 trade delegates and consumers are expected to attend and Tourism Australia will promote Australia as a safe and welcoming destination for Japanese visitors. | | | | | |

International publications such as Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Washington Post, Our Seven Worlds and The Points Guy all shared advice on how a trip to Australia can benefit recovery. The message from Australia is clear, there are many regions that remain unaffected and we continue to offer visitors the incredible tourism experiences that our country is known for. | | | | AUSTRALIA’S WILDLIFE IN THE LOVING CARE OF MANY HELPING HANDS | We have seen an outpouring of support for our wildlife organisations and this week the heart-warming stories of people who have banded together to help Australia’s animals have been shared globally. | NEWS IN BRIEF | The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has launched a website to help fire-affected small-to-medium-sized businesses access information. | | On 16 January, the Australian Tourism Minister, Simon Birmingham, hosted an industry roundtable to hear concerns from industry and provide information about the Australian Government response. | | On 22 January, Australian Wildlife Journeys are hosting a webinar with three of its most impacted members: Craig Wickham from Exceptional Kangaroo Island (SA); Janine Duffy from Echidna Walkabout (VIC) and Brad Lowe from Boutique Wildlife Tours (NSW).
