Holiday arrivals from the US and Canada grew by 7.8% and 5.7% respectively in the year ending September 2019. And while this growth might start to moderate in the short-term, North America presents huge long-term potential, which is why we are continuing to invest in new and exciting opportunities in this market. We were over the moon to secure amazing coverage of New Zealand in the US through The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The five episodes dedicated to Aotearoa aired to well over 17.5 million people recently with an advertising value of over $5 million. Immediately following the week-long showcase Google searches for New Zealand in the US increased by a whopping 300%. The coverage is expected to deliver positive impacts for New Zealand for years to come and we will continue to monitor these. Four new flights from North America announced recently will help to support this growth with the first, Air Canada's Vancouver to Auckland service, launching this month. These services open up new markets, improve connectivity and make it easier for visitors to return. They also make it easier and more economic for Kiwis to travel. To further strengthen our position in North America we’re running a Kiwi Link trade event in the US in July 2020. The event will provide an opportunity to upskill travel agents on New Zealand products and to showcase New Zealand regions. This follows on from a successful series of roadshows last year that showcased New Zealand more broadly. As you head into the busy season, from all of us here at TNZ we wish you and your whānau a festive and safe summer.
