Kia Ora THE

Last week I was in the US meeting staff and stakeholders and had the privilege of meeting our new US tourism ambassador, Bryce Dallas Howard. Bryce has a genuine love of New Zealand and her interviews with media show how much passion and knowledge she has of the places she is promoting.

New Zealand has had a transformational effect on Bryce and her life, and it comes through beautifully in the National Geographic Travel collaboration we have done with her. You can read more about the partnership below.

While I was in the US, I also attended the Opening of Tuku Iho | Living Legacy at the Smithsonian in Washington DC where I spent time with the amazing people from the Māori Arts and Crafts Institute and Te Puia. It was incredibly moving to see New Zealand on show in such a place – connecting people, culture and art.

It was great to come home to results from our PR and Major Events team that show we have not only met but exceeded our targets for the year with some stunning results. I know that many of you work with our PR team, providing content or assisting with hosting international media. I would like to thank you all for working alongside us – together we are such a strong team.

These excellent results set the bar for the year ahead as we continue to identify new opportunities, seek out hidden gems and continue to tell a compelling story that puts New Zealand at the top of the list for people booking their next holiday.

I know that many operators in the South Island have been affected by the recent weather. I hope you are all up and running again soon.

Chief Executive, Tourism New Zealand
