Kia Ora THE

The 12 year wait is almost over with the DHL New Zealand Lions Series 2017 about to kick off. The team and fans start to arrive this week. I know I'm excited and I'm sure the 20,000 visitors coming our way will be too.

We have been working hard to make the most of the tour and with up to 100 international media expected to cover all or part of the tournament, it's a huge opportunity to promote New Zealand. Read more below.

It's been great seeing industry turn out in full force to our strategic updates being held across the country this week. The events give us the opportunity to share more about work we have planned, answer any questions and talk about how we can work together. We are in Rotorua tomorrow, then in Auckland on Friday. The presentation will be available on the website after Friday's session.

This week I will be heading to MEETINGS, New Zealand's largest business tourism trade exhibition. The event, run by Conferences and Incentives New Zealand attracts hundreds of buyers from around the globe.

At MEETINGS I will be speaking about the growth we are seeing in New Zealand as a business events destination. This is fantastic and the result of the industry working so well together. A recent example of this was Tourism New Zealand, Victoria University and the Wellington Regional Economic Development Agency's work to secure an international linguistics conference.

The annual event has never left the UK but will be hosted in Wellington in 2019. Let's keep the wins coming!

Have a great week.
