| Now my last newsletter might have been a bit negative nancy, and I apologize. Not all content creation is gloom and doom (honestly, most of it definitely isn't!). So, on a lighter note, here are some essential "Golden Rules of Content Creation" that I've learned over the years: - Start strong (hooks matter!) Regardless of the platform or length, the first few seconds of your content are critical. Practising your hooks will pay off tenfold.
- Done is better than perfect: Don't let the fear of imperfection hold you back. It is still better to get something out than to spend so much time trying to perfect every little aspect of it and never post at all.
- Don't fall in love with your content too much: Be open to feedback and willing to adapt. Not every piece of content will be a hit, and that's okay.
- Focus on one platform first: Especially when you're starting out, master one platform before trying to conquer them all.
- Patience and persistence are vital: Building an audience and a successful creator career takes time and effort. Don't get discouraged by slow progress.
- Always have a CTA: Tell your audience what you want them to do next – like, comment, subscribe, visit a link, etc.
- Don't post and ghost: Engage with your audience and build a community. Like, they are real people there!
- Social media is always evolving. Trends change, algorithms update, and new platforms emerge. This is A GOOD THING. No really, because it can just as easily swing in your direction, now favouring your content style.
- Continuous learning is key. Stay up-to-date with industry news, take courses, and learn from other successful creators. All the time.
- This is a marathon, not a sprint. Building a sustainable creator career takes time and consistent effort. Don't compare your journey to others. Focus on your own progress and celebrate small victories.
- Most importantly: Have FUN! If you're not enjoying the process, it WILL show in your content. (And also, what's the point?)
Remember that you have a unique voice and perspective to share with the world. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there; the world needs your creativity and your story. -Nadine | |
