| | I was pleased to announce an initiative this week that will make tourism data more accessible. From 12 November a data hub will go live that presents arrivals, market and spend data in an easy-to-use, highly visual format, giving users the ability to search and view related tourism information. The data hub is a result of us partnering with Figure.NZ who will also present at our November roadshow events to support industry to utilise and apply the data to their businesses. Google will also join us to talk about digital trends and strengthening your digital presence. It's a must attend event! Registrations opened today so make sure you get these dates in your diary. You can read more about the Figure.NZ partnership in the story below. Last week I attended the 2018 Global Tourism Summit in Hawaii where I was the opening keynote speaker. The summit focused on the ever-present need for destinations to balance the benefits of tourism with its impact on residents and local communities. The 2000 stong audience was really interested in New Zealand's collaborative approach to tourism, the emphasis we place on data driven design and how Tourism New Zealand works across government departments, ministries, agencies, and projects to support and develop tourism goals. It was interesting to learn that the activity taking place in New Zealand to proactively manage the visitor economy is viewed as progressive, with other nations keen to know more. I also enjoyed learning more about what other countries are doing to ensure tourism enriches their countries and how this might be applied to our work. Last night I am attended our annual business events national awards dinner with our Board chair and the Minister of Tourism. | | It was great to meet some of the individuals who have championed their fields of expertise on the world stage to bring international conferences to our country.
