After Hurricane Maria raked Guadeloupe and pulverized mountainous Dominica overnight, the storm's winds and rain neared tiny Montserrat on Tuesday morning on a track to the Virgin Islands late Tuesday.
The Category 5 storm battered Dominica with 160 mph winds, ripping the roof off the prime minister's residence and causing what he called "mind-boggling" devastation.
More than 900 people stuck in the U.S. Virgin Islands because of Hurricane Irma, many grateful to be alive, arrived at PortMiami on Friday after being rescued in St. Thomas by the cruise ship.
The reopening of the Cyril King airport had tentatively planned on reopening Sept. 18 for limited commercial flights, but that was canceled due to the approach of Hurricane Maria.
As they worked to assist large numbers of customers, tour operators and wholesalers have had to deal with many logistical challenges in a very short amount of time.
