 | | Dear Travel Weekly community, It's heartbreaking to see yet another major hurricane bearing down on the Caribbean. Our friends and colleagues there are feeling unimaginable personal and professional pressure. Relief groups are valiantly struggling to bring aid to the region, but after the first-responders have left, those working in tourism face a prolonged struggle as they not only rebuild their lives, but endure the period until their livelihoods are restored as well.
Tourism Cares is a nonprofit dedicated to helping the industry's workers, enterprises and destinations recover after a disaster. Following the destruction of Harvey and Irma, it partnered with major tourism associations and organizations to create a Destination Disaster Recovery Fund. And the fresh destruction being wrought by Maria makes regional needs more acute still. As both a concerned member of the travel and tourism community and a Tourism Cares board member, I urge you to join me in making a personal (or corporate, or foundational) donation to help our colleagues in their time of great need. Please donate to the fund here. Whatever you can afford will be greatly appreciated. My best, Arnie Weissmann Editor in Chief, Travel Weekly P.S.
