| | | | | Live from Aus | Tomorrow, Tourism Australia will be announcing the Live from Aus virtual tourism activation. An extension of the With Love from Aus campaign launched last month, Live from Aus will bring some of Australia’s best tourism offerings ‘live’ into the living rooms of hundreds of thousands of Australians. Live from Aus will highlight the best that Australian tourism has to offer, from our unique culture to stunning natural beauty, world class food and drink and exceptional wildlife. Live from Aus will be hosted by an array of Australian personalities, advocates and industry operators who will educate, entertain and inspire viewers with a range of interactive experiences, including cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, exercise classes, cultural immersion sessions and Australian wildlife encounters. Live from Aus will kick off on Friday 15 May with a special one-hour broadcast at 7:30pm on The Project on Network Ten. ‘The Love Australia Project’ segment, proudly supported by Tourism Australia, will be headlined by some of the nation’s favourite tourism and entertainment personalities who will help shine a spotlight on our unparalleled offerings. This will be followed by a full weekend program on 16 and 17 May of live content on Tourism Australia’s social media channels. Even though the ability to travel is currently on hold and the timing of the recovery is still uncertain, it is important that Australia does not go quiet as a destination. While people can't travel right now, they can still dream and plan for future holidays. Tourism Australia’s marketing job right now is about keeping Australia front of mind for domestic and international travellers by using this enforced period of self-isolation to engage with people in their living rooms, feed their escapism and inspire them to travel again once the restrictions start to lift. Through a Facebook group that originated in Western Australia, Aussies are being paired with backpackers and offering anything from a spare room, backyard or garage to empty lots, farmhouses, vacant properties and holiday homes. | | | | Safe work practices | Safe Work Australia has released a number of work health and safety guidelines and tools for Australian workplaces to use in managing the health and safety risks posed by coronavirus (COVID-19). Restaurant and Catering Australia (RCA) have also released ‘COVID-19 Best Practice Guidelines’ to provide guidance for food service businesses operating in a post-coronavirus world. | | | | | | | | | | Two different species of Australian pearls successful spawned simultaneously | Pearls of Australia, a third-generation family business, has successfully spawned two species of pearl oysters across its hatcheries at the same time. The company’s tourism and retail employees were given a hands-on role, to concentrate efforts during this down time on spawning pearl oysters. The initiative aims to boost the cultivation of authentic Australian pearls and ensure the industry’s livelihood in the years to come. These new spawnings are a significant achievement and an Australian first. | | | | New murals brighten Gippsland | The Gippsland town of Yarram, in Victoria's south-east, has received a colourful makeover courtesy of ten new murals painted by a renowned street artist – Heesco.
