Dear Member...

Double points time!

Members...

Monday is Co-op Fortnight, two weeks when the thousands of different co-op societies and businesses around the country (yes, that's right, there are THOUSANDS of us) all work together to achieve something great.

It's also a great opportunity for our members to rack up some additional points in our food stores.

So... what is Chelmsford Star Co-op doing to mark this fortnight?

food for thought!

Food Points | Donation Stations!

Each of our stores will be collecting items for a charity in their neighbourhood, as part of our 'Food For Thought' donation stations...

There are 40 very worthwhile local beneficiaries desperate for some extra support, and together we're going to give it to them; from food banks, to schools, shelters, even animal charities.

Pop to your local branch to see who they're helping, and please consider putting something extra in your basket (remember, double points!), and leaving it in the collection point on your way out of the store.

Thank you.

Cream Tea

Co-op Information Day

If you want to know more about co-operation and co-operative businesses, come along to our Co-operator's Cream Tea:

27th June | 3pm

Chelmsford Quadrant

We have a range of groups represented, and music provided by Southend Jazz Co-op, all whilst enjoying a yummy cream tea (suggested donation of £5 to Essex & Herts Air Ambulance).

  Clean Ups

Big Co-op Clean Ups

Enjoy the lovely weather AND make a difference to your community by joining in one of our litter-picking sessions, or speak to us about supporting your own event.

We've Clean Ups happening all over Essex this summer, many with local schools. We have room for more volunteers at events in Braintree, Chelmsford, Hullbridge and Shoebury.

Supporting Local

Believe it or not, many of our customers don't realise we're a locally-based, independent co-op. That's why it is so important to us to help out the farms and growers we have in Essex, and by stocking their products in our stores.

You can meet some of these lovely people in our 'Only Way Is Local' marquee at the Cressing Food & Drink Festival coming in July.

Our Co-op Difference...

Shopping at your local Co-op is a better alternative; for you, for the region, and for the environment. Not just during co-op fortnight. For a start, last year we recycled 99.86% of the waste we produced. Learn more about Our Co-op Difference here.

These differences include...

100% british meat

  recycled paper

Use your card for double points

It's amazing how quickly these extra points will add up over the next few weeks, so make sure you hand over your membership card with every transaction.

Find Out More | Co-op Fortnight

Co-op Fortnight is organised by our good friends over at Co-operatives UK, the network for thousands of Britain's co-op businesses.

Launched in 2010, the fortnight has gone from strength to strength. Last year, they helped us to celebrate the difference co-ops make all over the UK, and produced The Co-op Economy Report. It revealed, amongst other things, that co-op businesses were twice as likely to survive the difficult first five years compared to other businesses.
